Nov 16th - Bungay Town u10a 5 - 1 Hemsby B
Bungay with two players unavailable, went to Hemsby with no substitutes, which was a concern for the manager. The boys however exceeded expectation with a game of passing, moving and team work some adult teams can only wish for. The goals came from Jamie (Bullard), with a hatrick, a sweetly struck shot from Jaymel and a deserved goal for Luke. We have to mention the four others who played as well, Josh Bradley, Elliot and Josh(Scottie) because this group of boys along with Harry and Sam are becoming a team who are willing to work for each other and realise football is a team game. Brilliant lads but we need to keep it up.
The games dont get any harder than next weeks, The b team arrive fresh from a good 2-2 draw with Loddon Kick off 10:30 Sunday at the Maltings. Good luck to both teams.
Nov 9th - Bungay Town u10a 1 - 0 Kirkley & Pakefield A
This week saw the first home game for a while against a very good Kirkley side. The game was a very tight affair with both midfields working hard, but cancelling each other out. Bradley was again defending like we know he can, nothing fancy, safety first. Josh in goal though not having too much to do was solid again. The first half finished 0-0. Going with the wind second half Bungay began at last to pass the ball, still not many clear cut chances were made and any half chances didn't trouble the Kirkley keeper. The game looked to be heading for a goaless draw until Jamie was set through and a sweetly hit shot across the keeper into the bottom corner was enough to settle the game. The effort the boys are putting in at the moment is great, we cant always play flowing football, but as long as we try hard then we'll be ok.
Next week the early leave and long trip to Hemsby.
Nov 2nd - Waveney A 1 - 1 Bungay Town u10a - Cup Game Waveney win 3-0 on penalties
For the second time this season Bungay visted Waveney a, for a cup game which the strong Waveney are the holders. For the second time aswell Bungay had a early setback when a player turned up feeling unwell, this time Harry. The first 10 minutes of the first half saw Bungay open up Waveney several times without testing the keeper, gradually Waveney got in to the game and the first half saw some good play from both teams. Waveney opened the scoring after 15 minutes but the boys dug in and levelled just before half time with another goal from Jamie, again with the help of good wide play.
The second half saw end to end action all the way through with both teams going for the winner. That winner never came, so the game went to penalties. Here Waveney were supreme with 3 good strikes from the spot against 3 Bungay misses.
From a managers point of view, I couldn't ask any more of my players they tried so hard, and each time get closer to beating a team which were unbeaten in the league and cup last and this season. You can be proud of yourselves lads, i'm proud of you all. However its back to league action next week and we need the same effort.
October 26th - Gorleston Rangers A 2 - 3 Bungay Town u10a
This week another trip to Gorleston, Bungay started very slow. there wasn't the good flowing football that was played the week before. Having said that, the boys were not in any trouble at the back either with both midfields battling for supremacy. The only talking point of the first half was Jamie's fierce shot hitting the post. In the second half Bungay started better with Harry playing some good link up play. However Gorleston opened the scoring following a mis-kicked clearance from Josh in goal. Josh was to make up for this later in the half with 2 or 3 excellent saves. Elliot got Bungay's equaliser after more good work from Harry. Luke scored the second with a powerful header from a corner and Jaymel got the third with a shot that took the ball and the keeper over the line. Gorleston pulled one back in the dying minutes but Bungay held on for the second win in a row. Good second half lads but we need both halves to be good.
Next week it's the cup and Waveney A away. You are good enough to win this one lads.
October 19th - Gorleston F.C - 1 Bungay Town u10a
Bungay travelled for the first time to Gorleston fc, The boys started well and were passing the ball well on a bobbly pitch with the grass quite long. the football being played going forward was good and through this Jamie netted twice to give Bungay a 2-0 lead at half time. The lads were told at the break to keep doing the same things but be aware of not having too many people forward at one time. This seemed to be ignored as almost immediatley Gorleston scored on the break. Jamie then scored another two thanks to good wing play from Luke and Scottie. The boys then proceeded to forget every thing about defending as Gorleston piled boys forward and it seemed every time they attacked they scored, fortunately they just ran out of time and Bungay survived to win 4-3. Its defensive training for the next couple of weeks, going forward fantastic but you must defend better boys.
October 12th - Bungay Town u10a 5 - 1 Waveney C
The first round of the league cup saw Waveney c make the the trip to the Maltings. The game started with both teams not doing much to threaten. As soon as Bungay started to play the football they can, chances started to be made. Some good build up play from defence through midfield gave Jamie and Bungay two goals to take the half time lead 2-0. Waveney started the second half the better and credit to them never gave up, but when Luke made it three it seemed all over. Waveney then pulled a goal back to make it interesting. Harry then scored direct from a corner and Luke added his second to make the final score 5-1
When the boys play the passing football they can its a joy to watch but playing it in 5 minute patches isn't good enough. Come on boys play for and trust in your team mates. The second round draw handed Bungay probably the hardest game they could have got, Waveney a away, but im sure the lads will give it their best and maybe.....
Sept 28th - Waveney A 2 - 1 Bungay Town u10a
Bungay had a very early blow when Scottie arrived with an upset stomach. Playing against a very good Waveney team on a very big pitch was always going to be difficult. The game started evenly with both sides cancelling each other out. Then a defensive mix up led to Waveney opening the scoring. Worse was to follow before half time when the referee awarded Waveney a penalty although the Bungay players insist the foul was outside the box. The penalty was cooly converted and Waveney led 2-0 at half time. After a telling off at half time the Bungay players made their manager and the watching parents feel immensely proud as the effort they put in was superb. A super free-kick from Harry pulled a goal back and the boys tried their hardest in vain to get the second.
A very good second half lads but there are two halves in a game. Next week its the cup and this time its Waveney c.
Sep 14 - Bungay Town u10a 2 - 2 Waveney B
A slightly disappointing start to the league campaign. The boys must play as part of a team not as individuals, However after not playing their best Bungay still came away with a point. The manager is hoping for better in the weeks to come and im sure there will be.
Team: Josh, Jaymel, Bradley, Harry, Scottie, Luke, Sam and Jamie
Sep 8 Blundeston Magpies 2 - 8 Bungay Town u10a
This was the last of the pre season friendlies and Bungay got off to a very bad start being out played and going 2-0 down after 10 minutes. Then without any changes being made the boys realised that just by turning up doesn't mean you are going to win, you have to earn it. The football level was raised, the passing started and 'bingo' the goals came. By the end of the first half Bungay were 3-2 up. In the second half lots of changes were made, players playing in different positions and still the passing carried on which resulted in 5 more goals for Bungay.
Congratulations to the boys for their pre season 3 games 3 wins, hopefully we are ready for the seasons start next week. The first game being Waveney b at home.
