7/3/10 Bungay Town U14 2 - 4 Bohemians U14B
Bungay returned to League action after another enforced lay-off with defeat against promotion rivals Bohemians. In a biting wind Bungay had more possession in the early stages, but could not turn it into goals. When Bohemians seized on a goal kick and scored it was their first real attack, and despite Rory going close for Bungay, Bohemians soon found themselves two up with a shot and turn from the edge of the box. Bungay's approach play continued to be good and an effort from Rory rattled the bar. Sam's persistence forced a poor clearance and Harry R was on hand to score Bungay's first from distance. Any hope of a recovery was soon extinguished when Bohemians ran through and added another. The visitors’ crisp tackling kept Bungay at bay apart from a deft flick from Rhys which the keeper held.

Chances were fewer after the break as Sam struggled to overcome a long series of tight offside decisions. Bohemians produced some speculative long shots and one of these sailed into the roof of the net. Bungay pulled one back when Rhys's cross fell to Jake, and after a Bohemians defender hit the bar from miles out, Sam was put through but shot wide with a chance to reduce the margin. It was just not Bungay's day. Defeat does not rule them out of the promotion race though their final fixtures are not easy.

Man of the match: Kieron

7/2/10 Bungay Town Under 14's 2 - 2 Oulton Mariners
Bungay's first League match for several weeks provided a keenly fought draw against table-topping Oulton Mariners.Bungay started brightly and were soon ahead when Rory exchanged passes with Jake in his new outfield role, and fired home. As expected Oulton responded with spirit, and one effort hit the bar. Some good chances fell Bungay's way, but within minutes they found themselves behind.

After a pacy break down the left the ball was squared and tapped in from close range. Then, almost from the kick off, a through ball was weakly cleared, and the ball was swept home by the onrushing striker. The Oulton keeper was equal to anything Bungay could produce, while Bungay's new keeper Charlie W handled everything with confidence.

Behind at the break, Bungay tried vainly to produce their best form, and though the visitors managed some incisive moves, there were precious few chances at either end for long periods. An Oulton free kick rattled the bar and this seemed to stir Bungay into greater action. Jake hit the post leading to a goalmouth scramble in which any number of Bungay players could have scored. From a corner the ball fell to Charlie H, up from the back, and his forceful shot went in via a deflection.

Man of the match: Charlie H

17/1/10 Shrublands U14 8 - 1 Bungay Town Under 14's
Bungay's return to action saw them fall at the first hurdle in the Shield with an emphatic defeat at the hands of higher division Shrublands.Bungay looked the more accomplished in the opening spell, and it was somewhat against the run of play when Shrublands took the lead when a cross was not cleared and the ball was tapped home. As Bungay pushed forward to get back into contention, Shrublands started to hit their stride, and added two more superbly taken goals on the break. Before half-time they had also hit the bar, and had another goal ruled out. In the second half Bungay started brightly, but before long Shrublands were finding the route to goal with great regularity. They added one from a corner,  the next from a deft chip and the sixth from another tap-in. Stand-in keeper Rory pulled off an acrobatic save, but as Bungay's heads dropped two more easy goals followed in quick succession. With the game beyond them Bungay got some consolation with a well-flighted free kick form Harry R. By Bungay's standards this was a poor performance, and it now remains to be seen whether they can put the lessons learnt from this match to good use in the rest of the League season.

13/12/09 Bungay Town Under 14's 11 - 1 Freethorpe U14
Bungay chalked up another convincing win, though it came at the expense of a Freethorpe side short of players at the start. The scoring began when Rory headed in Rhys's cross from the right. Sam tapped in the next, before Miles chipped forward for Rhys to score from a tight angle.  A defensive mix-up led to the fourth, an own goal. The next was spectacular, Harry H's long throw into the area was met by an overhead kick from Harry R. Bolstered by two late arrivals, Freethorpe provided stronger resistance until a late flourish from Bungay added three more before the break. Rory scored from distance, Harry R converted another Harry H long throw, and Lambert added one from the left. The second half was more evenly contested though Bungay managed to squander a string of chances. Harry R completed his hat-trick with a header following a goalmouth scramble, and Harry H blasted another from close range. Sam was felled but placed the penalty high, as Freethorpe, in their best spell, outnumbered the home defence and pulled one back. Ashley and Shaun could both have added another, but it was Harry H who finally wrapped up the scoring. The result sees Bungay move into the promotion places. Every member of the squad has now scored this season. Men of the match: Charlie and Rhys

29/11/09 Bungay Town Under 14's 5 - 2 Loddon Grasshoppers U14
Bungay resisted a spirited revival from Loddon to take the points in this local derby. Loddon played with one player missing, but it was scarcely noticed as they competed for everything in an evenly balanced opening spell. The match was well advanced when a moment of inspiration from Bungay separated the teams. An intelligent pass from Marcus was matched by the quality of George's finish. The next soon followed when George found Rhys on the far post. Bungay failed to press home their advantage after the break, and Loddon started to take control of the midfield. Their pacy and skilful forward players continued to stretch the home defence and it was no surprise when they pulled one back with a well-worked move. When they added another with a long shot on the break, the match threatened to swing back in their favour, and it was only a splendid save by Jake which kept Bungay on terms. This proved to be a turning point, as Bungay's extra player started to take effect in the closing stages. First Harry R was on hand to bundle home a corner, then turned in another from further out. In the final minutes a long ball from Charlie put Sam in the clear, and the most delicate of touches steered the ball wide of the keeper to provide a scoreline which was probably harsh on the visitors. Man of the match: Jake

22/11/09 Oulton Mariners 2 - 1 Bungay Town Under 14's
Despite a late revival Bungay missed out to League leaders Oulton, in a match where the weather played a decisive factor. Playing with a strong cross wind, Bungay were on the back foot from the start. With only a few minutes on the clock they were behind after Oulton's fine pass and crisp finish down the left wing. Bungay found the net when Rory bundled home Harry H's cross but was ruled to have fouled the keeper. Oulton went further ahead after a pass from the right went unchallenged across the Bungay defence. With the wind creating havoc for both teams Rhys broke clear down the wing and just overhit his shot across the goal. During the interval the wind stiffened and swung round into Bungay's faces, allowing Oulton to take advantage with some long range efforts. Jake pulled off an excellent diving save, and from his line to make a couple of clearances. With torrential rain adding to their problems, both teams struggled to put together some telling moves. The match was drifting to an Oulton victory when Bungay produced a sudden late flourish. First Marcus found himself in the clear, but saw his chance smothered by the home keeper. Then Tom and Harry R combined in midfield to set Sam away. He rounded the keeper and took his time to finish and so set up a tense final few minutes. Man of the match: Rory

15/11/09 Kirkley & Pakefield U14B 1 - 15 Bungay Town Under 14's
Bungay came within seconds of eliminating higher division opponents from the Cup, but eventually went out after a penalty shoot out. Within the first few minutes Bungay had taken the lead when Sam squared for Rhys to score from close range. The match then settled into a keenly contested battle with Bungay's passing football just giving them the upper hand, though the home side's strong and skilful strike force presented a consistent threat. Jake rushed from his line to block a K&P striker, but unfairly. The resulting penalty grazed the top of the bar and went over, but before long the equaliser arrived courtesy of a looping shot from the edge of the area. Rhys was on hand to tap home after Sam's approach work, but this was ruled offside. Within minutes Bungay produced an identical move but this time Rhys's goal was allowed to stand, putting Bungay ahead at the break. Jake just failed to hold K&P's cross from the touchline and the score was 2-2.

There was no more scoring for a long spell though both teams had their opportunities; K & P clipped the bar gain while Bungay could several times have sewn up the result. With a couple of minutes left, Rhys sprinted down the wing again and crossed for Sam who could not finish, but Ashley appeared on the far post to score an apparent winner. K&P mounted one final attack and a last ditch equaliser arrived after the Bungay defence had failed to clear. Entertainment levels remained high during extra time, and the pace only started to flag at the very end. The ball was cleared off the line at both ends, setting up a penalty shoot out. Bungay's first was saved, and K&P's went wide. Ben and Harry H were on target for Bungay, but that was all. K&P converted three of theirs, and went through to the next round. An excellent match. Man of the match: Rhys

8/11/09 Repps Rangers U14 1 - 15 Bungay Town Under 14's
Bungay registered a sizeable win against a Repps side which was under strength because of illness. It was clear from the start that Repps would be fighting a rearguard action, though it took some time before Sam opened Bungay's scoring. Harry H burst through for the second, and added another with a flicked header from Miles's cross. Marcus fired in a high shot for the next, and Lambert was on hand to tap home one more after a flowing move involving Tom and Rhys. Kieron, up for a corner, completed the first half scoring from close range.

More of the same followed when Kyle's long ball set up Harry H's blast for his hat-trick. Miles crossed to Marcus for number 8, then Ben lobbed the next from distance. Harry R provided the ammunition for Sam's next, then saw his own effort parried for Rhys to score on the follow-up. Kyle's first ever goal arrived when he finished expertly from Sam's corner.

Repps had battled determinedly and now put together enough attacks to keep Jake on his toes before Jamie scored a fine solo goal for them. There was enough time for three more from Bungay:  a Sam breakaway for his hat-trick, a characteristic drive from outside the area by Harry R and Shaun's solo run and shot from a narrow angle for his own first goal. Ten different players had managed to score Bungay's goals, which must be some sort of a record! Man of the match: Kyle

18/10/09 Bungay Town Under 14's 12 - 1 Corton Warriors U14
Bungay took a while to get going, but eventually chalked up a convincing win against Corton. They took the lead after a minute when Rhys was on hand to score from Miles's cross-field pass. There followed a long period of scrappy play, when Corton broke through a couple of times, until Harry R scored with a spectacular shot form the edge of the area. It was 3-0 at the break when Rhys's balletic flick set up Sam, whose shot was pushed out to Miles who finished at the second attempt. Playing more controlled football after the break, Bungay served up a string of chances. Tom finished calmly, following up a Miles effort. Rhys scored the next after George had done the approach work. A move featuring Rory's juggling skills allowed Jake, freed from his goalkeeping duties, to add one more. Harry R dribbled almost to the goal line to register number 7 from close range, and then combined with Rhys to set up George for a debut goal. In quick succession Sam twice outpaced the visitors' defence and each time resisted all challenges to produce an unerring finish. At the other end stand-in keeper Harry H had to block a Corton breakaway, but Bungay added two more. Rhys wrapped up his hat-trick from Sam's pass, and it was left to Jake to provide the last with a blistering shot from a long way out.  Man of the match: Tom

11/10/09 Loddon Grasshoppers U14 2 Bungay Town U14 4
Bungay emerged from their break with a hard-fought win against local rivals Loddon.

It was clear from the beginning that this was going to be a keenly contested match as both teams struggled to gain the upper hand. If anything most of the early possession went Loddon's way, but it was Bungay who went ahead when Miles's shot from Tom's through ball was pushed out to Marcus who hooked the ball home in spectacular fashion. There then followed a golden period for Bungay which decided the match. A long clearance from Jake found Sam who burst through the home defence to add a second. Within minutes Sam resisted all challenges to score the next, and when Harry R dribbled through and fired the fourth it looked as if the game was beyond Loddon's grasp.

However they fought back strongly. Jake brilliantly saved a Loddon free kick but they pulled one back before the break with Ryan's penalty following handball by Lambert. There was still plenty of time for a comeback when James broke clear and made it 4-2 with a skilful lob, but from then on both keepers prevented further scoring. Jake made a fine double save while at the other end Freddie was on top form to keep out a string of chances, many of which fell to Harry H. Bungay man of the match: Jake.

20/9/09 St Benets Wasps Under 14B 4 - 1 Bungay Town Under 14's
Wasps deservedly took the honours in a keenly fought local derby.  The home team took an early lead after an initial attack broke down but Callum followed up from the edge of the box. Bungay resisted further pressure and eventually equalised when Tom's chip over the defence found Rhys who gleefully accepted the chance. Prompt action by Alex for Wasps diverted Sam's shot from the net, while at the other end Jake's save after a goalmouth scramble kept scores level at the break. Wasps gained the upper hand in midfield and it was no surprise when they took the lead with a cross from Callum was superbly headed home by Jamie on the far post. A spell of Bungay pressure produced only one clear cut chance for Rhys, but Wasps extended their lead when Callum hit the post, Jake saved and Jamie followed up the rebound. Callum then hit the bar for Wasps, and when a long throw was not properly cleared, Jamie was on hand for their fourth. With the game beyond them Bungay, with Shaun coming on for his League debut, started to produce some better football. However Wasps defence, well marshalled by Matt and Greg, blotted out a late recovery, while at the other end Jake had to be alert to prevent further scoring.

13/9/09 Bungay Town Under 14's 9 - 0 Repps Rangers Under 14's
Bungay's new season started brightly with a comfortable win over League newcomers Repps Rangers. It did not take long for Bungay to get into their stride, and the first goal arrived when Miles squared across the box for new signing Marcus to scored from close range. Before long a corner was cleared to Ben who fired home the next from distance. A fine run from Rhys led to Miles's header for the third, and Sam added another before another cross from Rhys was tuned home by Lambert. Bungay went six up at the break when Harry R produced an unstoppable shot from thirty yards.

The second half promised more of the same when Harry R scored another from long range, but for a long period Bungay's fluency deserted them. A series of chances was squandered, and another goal only arrived when the visiting keeper failed to hold onto Ashley's effort. With Rhys causing constant problems on the wing it was left to Charlie wrap up the scoring when he arrived from the back to finish powerfully from the edge of the area. Man of the match: Rhys
