29/11/09 CFC Bury 2-3 Bungay Under 16's Cup Game
Bungay town u16s were drawn away at CFC Bury, in Bury St Edmunds, so at 8.15am on Sunday morning, some bleary eyed boys, travelled to Bury. The rain came and went on the journey up, but the sun came out and was very bright and that was how the boys started with quick passing and moving. Some of the best football I have seen them play with one touch football, CFC Bury were chasing shadows, but Bungay could not finish the moves off. They getting more and more frustrated but kept pushing forward. James Shaw in goal only had one shot in the first half to stop, which he dealt with, with ease. Bungay did finaly get the goal they deserved, with a fine finish from Jake Taylor in the top corner, their keeper had no chance. There were several chances that went close, from Sam Bone and Ben Wilson, who was having a great captain's performance in midfield, with the help of Bobby Roberts, who won some great headers in the middle and some great solid tackles. Naill Randlesome and Cam Williams ran tirelesly up and down the wings, with pace, so at half time it was 1-0 to Bungay.
The second half started much the same as the first with Bungay on the attack and after 10 minutes Cam Williams cut inside and drove at the defence, who seemed to bring him down in the box but no penalty given. The boys kept going and Ben Wilson hit a shot from 30 yards out, I shouted it's in, but it came back off the post. You could see what was going to happen, all that pressure and they were going to nick one at the end, but thankfully it didn't happen thanks to a solid back 4 of Matti James, David Brown, Robert Read and Joe Pinnington. well done boys great performance by all including the subs. Final score CFC Bury 0 BUNGAY TOWN 1
22/11/09 v Mutford
Well unfortunatly the great run came to an end against Mutford. We knew it was going to be a tough game as Mutford were one of the favorites to win the league. We did give our all though and went in at half time only one down, unlucky not to be level after Jake Taylor had narrowly missed just before half time. Bungay started the second half much the better and again Jake narrowly missed, with about 15 minutes to go the heavens opened and the wind blew in to our faces and with a nasty challange on Bobby Roberts, after which he had to come off, Bungay conceded a second and the boys dropped their heads, struggled in the wind and rain and eventualy lost 5-0.
15/11/09 Hempnall 1-1 Bungay Under 16's
On November 15th Bungay travelled to Hempnall, and found a very different Hempnall side, than played earlier in the season. They wanted it more than Bungay and it showed on the pitch. They were first to every thing, Bungay did manage to hit the bar from a free kick, from Sam Bone, that was the closest we came in the first half and managed to go in at half time 0-0. After the team talk Bungay started brighter, but still not how I know they can play, but with some determination from Jake Taylor not giving up on a lost cause he managed to cross the ball to Sam Bone who scored. Ten minutes later Hempnell were level and no more than they deserved, there were no further goals so we managed to get a draw and carry on our unbeaten run.
8/11/09 Bungay Under 16's 2-3 St Benets
Well boys what can I say, a superb performance by all 14 of you from the first min. You fought for every ball, you didnt stop running, not letting St Benets settle just as I had asked and it paid off within 5 minutes Naill out paced the defence and lobbed the keeper 1-0. Bungay didnt stop there; they almost scored again but for a goal line clearance from a Jake Taylor shot. Not to be denied Jake did score 2 minutes later, 2-0 and not ten minutes played yet. Bungay kept pushing forward and were rewarded on 15 minutes with a headed goal from Sam Bone. Bungay scored again on 25 minutes, Sam scoring again, 4-0. St Benets did not get a look at goal all of the first half due to great defensive play by Grant, Joe, Tye and Mattie. Mattie James was on top form today covering both full backs if they needed it. Bobby and Ben were running up and down and across the pitch not letting St Benets settle on the ball, Naill and Cameron also running their hearts out, up and down the wings,
great first half boys. Second half not so good, we took our foot off the gas and thought we had won, not a good thing to do boys. St Benets scored very early in the second half with a wicked deflection off Mattie James.
[his first goal of the season] 4-1, that gave St Benets a lift and they put Bungay under pressure but we held out and scored again through Sam Bone running through and passing the ball into the corner of the net for his hat-trick. Well done Sam,5-1. Two late goals by St Benets, who never gave up fighting, made Bungay sweat a bit; final score 5-3 Well done boys, keep up the good work.

St Benets 2-3 Bungay Under 16's
Bungay Town were drawn against arch rivels St Benets Wasps in the league cup. After being beaten in the first game of the season by them, Bungay did not want to lose again and from the first kick, to the last, they were determined to fight for every thing. They got their reward for some great football, playing the ball on the ground, in difficult conditions, of heavy rain and strong winds throughout the game. Sam Bone was played the ball to feet and in one swift move controlled, turned and shot into the top corner; their keeper just watched and admired. Bungay kept going forward and were reward for their efforts again, when Cameron Williams hit the ball hard and low across the goal, Naill Randlesome was there to slot the ball home. 2-0, no more than Bungay deserved but, just before the break, Bungay had chances to get it away, but didn't and were made to pay, 2-1 at half time.
Second half, Bungay started stronger again and deserved to get their third goal, scored by the head of Sam Bone, 3-1. Bungay kept pressing and not letting St Benets settle on the ball and play football. It was hit and hope from them because of the way Bungay were fighting. St Benets did score again, but Bungay held out comfortably to win 3-2. Well done boys, great effort from all, from the forwards, through to midfielders, defence and keeper.

Loddon Grasshoppers - Bungay Town Under 16's
This week we travelled to Loddon Grasshoppers who are top of the table and have not dropped any points this season so it was going to be tough but boy did we give them a game or what. Bungay fought from start to finish we had chances to score and so did Loddon and if it had not been for James Shaw's reaction save we would have gone in at half time 1 down.
Bungay started a bit slow in the second half and were made to pay for it, Loddon scoring from close range.
Bungay did not let their heads drop and came back fighting Jake Taylor and Sam Bone coming close to scoring on a number of occations but it was Loddon who scored again mid way through the second half. Bungay came back even more determined than before and finaly got their reward, a well taken goal too. But Bungay were not finished yet, a mistake by the Loddon keeper and Sam Bone was on to it like a flash to slot the ball home; no more than he and the team deserved. Bungay did put the ball in the net again 2 mins from time but an off side flag stopped bungay getting the win they deserved. Loddon did have the final attack of the game and if it had not been for a great tackle from Luke Doughty I believe Loddon would have scored. A great performance boys well done and a special thanks to Mattie James for his great defensive work and Sam Bone for his non stop running and hold up play up front.

Bungay Town Under 16's 2 - 1 Waveney Youth
We then had 2 weeks break due to hard pitches and on Sunday we played Waveney Youth, a very scrappy game, not much football being played by either team, but the effort was there, which pleased me very much. We went in at half time 1-1 thanks to a great save from the penalty spot by James Shaw. The second half was much the same as the first but with 2 minutes left Bungay scored the winner. A great win which they deserved on effort alone, well done boys and that puts you third in the table. You have the same points as second place, keep up the good work boys and believe in yourselves. well done.

Bungay Town Under 16's 5 - 0 Hempnall
Next was their first home game of the season, against Hempnall, a tough game on paper, as we lost heavily to them last year but what a difference a year makes with the boys beating Hempnall 5-0 and it could have been a lot more, had it not been for their goalkeeper. A great display by bungay they kept their shape, played some good passing football and worked hard with and with out the ball. Well done boys, great performance.

St Benets 6 - 2 Bungay Town Under 16's
Bungay's first game was against St Benets a very tough encounter in which we lost 6-2. We fought very hard and played some good football but lacked the killer instinct in front of goal. We held St Benets until mid-way through the second half when I changed the team to give every body a game, a mistake on my part I think, sorry boys. the end result was we lost 6-2 which the boys did not deserve to lose by for all their hard work and effort.
